Tatyana Boyarinova
Tatyana Boyarinova creates miniature worlds in glass. She draws her inspiration from nature and the ancient Venetian beads used for centuries as trading currencies throughout the world.
Rooted in colour, light and form, each bead is a small universe forged by the flame. With meticulous skill and an intuitive sense of harmony, she transforms molten glass into nature-inspired treasures, sometimes spending days on a single piece. These tiny talismans—vessels of memory, mood, and meaning—form unique art pieces and become wearable art for the refined collectors.
Tatyana works the molten glass like a play, pulling shapes and forms as she builds her larger installations, in which patterns, textures and colours are woven into a deep and complex artistic voice.
The artist began her journey studying economics but quickly realised it was not her path. She spent three years building a portfolio, mastering drawing and graphic techniques, and studying art history as she searched for her own voice. She was admitted to the prestigious Moscow State University of Printing Arts, where she studied for five years in the Faculty of Graphic Arts, obtaining a Master's degree in Book Illustration. Throughout her studies, Tatyana explored various artistic techniques and materials, constantly experimenting.
When she finally discovered glass, it was an instant match, she took a life-changing glass workshop in St. Petersburg and soon began training in Venice under renowned Murano masters including Davide Penso and Mauro Vianello.
While continuously pursuing excellence and new challenges, Tatyana has also shared her expertise through teaching in Russia, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and beyond. She has exhibited in France, Russia and Italy. In 2017, she held a solo exhibition—Vita in Vitrum—at the Glass Museum in Saint Petersburg. In 2018 she was invited to contribute her exquisite and intricate beadwork by the Museum of Natural History in Venice.
Based at her Moscow studio, Studio 104, Tatyana continues to develop innovative glasswork, teach internationally, and exhibit her collections. Her work remains a living, evolving art form—driven by curiosity, clarity of vision, and love for the medium.
Tatyana joined ÄKTA as a resident artist in 2024.
